Chittoor police present the four men arrested in connection with the alleged theft of copper wire from a factory near Kuppam, in Chittoor on Monday.

Chittoor district police on Sunday (September 27, 2026) night arrested four persons in connection with the alleged theft of copper wire from a company in Gudupalle mandal near Kuppam and recovered 280 kg of copper wire worth about ₹15 lakh.
Superintendent of Police Tushar Dudi told the media here that the theft had occurred on July 18 at the ABIS company in the Pogurupalle industrial area. Based on a complaint from the company management, a case was registered at the Gudupalle police station.
A special team was formed under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police (Kuppam sub-division) Boddu Hemanth.
During the investigation, police examined CCTV footage which showed six persons arriving on three two-wheelers. With the help of technical evidence, police tracked their movements and identified the accused.
The SP said that the accused had allegedly sold the stolen copper wire in small quantities at scrap shops in Kuppam and in neighbouring Tamil Nadu. Police also found that the accused had allegedly been involved in similar offences earlier.
The arrested persons have been identified as M. Madhu, 24, V. Santhosh, 21, V. Murugan, 30, and A. Vijay, 30, all from the Kuppam division. Madhu was earlier booked in a wire theft case at the Batlahalli police station in Chintamani taluk of Karnataka.
The accused were produced before the local court in Kuppam on Monday and were remanded.
