Man hacked to death by unidentified persons in Triplicane

A 28-year-old man was hacked to death by two unidentified persons on Monday (September 28, 2026) night, after he was asked by two women to step out of his house in Triplicane for a chat.

The victim has been identified as Ajith, 28, a resident of Venkatarangam Pillai Street, Triplicane. He worked as a technician with a private mobile operator. On Monday night, he was speaking with his father Natarajan and mother Sarasammal inside their house, when two women came to the door and asked him to step out of the house for a chat.

When Ajith went outside with them and was speaking to the women, two unidentified men came, pulled Ajith away, and attacked him with knives indiscriminately.

Ajith suffered injuries to his head and face. His parents rushed to his rescue. The assailants threatened them with knives, and Sarasammal suffered an injury to her hand while attempting to help her son.

Ice House police reached the scene after receiving information and recovered Ajith’s body and sent it to a Government Royapettah Hospital for post-mortem examination. Sarasammal was admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital for treatment.

The police registered a murder case. Investigators were examining whether the attack was linked to a previous dispute. The police reviewed the CCTV footage from the area and were analysing it to identify the suspects. The four suspects, including the two women, escaped on two-wheelers.
