The YSR Congress Party on Tuesday (September 29, 2026) accused the State government of treating the ward/village secretariat employees in an “inhuman manner,” and said that they deserve to be treated with respect.
Addressing a media conference at his office in Proddatur, former MLA and State spokesperson Rachamallu Sivaprasad Reddy condemned the alleged attack on secretariat employees and criticised how ruling party leaders spoke about them.
Citing an example of a news reporter calling the secretariat employees as “blade batch,” he alleged that the ruling NDA was systematically using its leaders and a section of the media to portray the agitating employees in a demeaning manner. “Treat them as employees and not your slaves. These secretariat staff deserve respect,” he said.
Mr. Reddy termed their demands for reduction of work pressure, payment of salary arrears pending for the last nine months, and maternity leave as reasonable and demanded that the government pay heed to their pleas.
Calling the secretariat system the “brain child” of former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, he stated that the YSRCP would stand by the employees till their issues were resolved.
