Sri Ramakrishna Hospital launched a week-long CPR awareness campaign in Coimbatore on Tuesday (September 29, 2026) to mark World Heart Day.
District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar inaugurated the campaign at Race Course. Organised in association with First Heart Foundations Network, the campaign will continue till October 4 under the theme ‘Don’t Miss a Beat’.
As part of the campaign, trained students of Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Paramedical Sciences will conduct CPR demonstrations and awareness sessions at Race Course, Coimbatore International Airport, the railway station, Semmozhi Poonga, Broadway, Fun Mall and PRS Ground.
At the inaugural event, students of Allied Health Sciences presented a mime and skit highlighting the importance of recognising sudden cardiac arrest and starting CPR immediately. Sundar Ramakrishnan, managing trustee of Sri Ramakrishna Hospital, said that awareness of basic life-saving measures needs to extend beyond hospitals and into homes, workplaces and public spaces.
