HYDERABAD
The Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) recorded a new peak power demand of 12,299 MW at 4.16 p.m. on Wednesday, the highest in the company’s history, according to its Chairman and Managing Director Jitesh V. Patil.
The overall power demand in Telangana stood at 19,400 MW on Wednesday, with TGSPDCL accounting for 12,299 MW and the Northern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited (TGNPDCL) recording 6,736 MW.
Mr. Patil said the successful handling of the record demand marked another milestone for the State’s power sector. The previous highest demand within the TGSPDCL limits was 12,044 MW recorded on September 29, while the earlier record was 11,828 MW on September 11.
He said that power consumption in Telangana was increasing by about 6% to 7% annually, and TGSPDCL had prepared a special action plan to meet the anticipated increase in demand this coming summer.
