MLA stages protest inside Puducherry Assembly premises

Legislator and Neyam Makkal Kazhagam founder, Nehru alias Couppussamy, on Wednesday staged a protest on the Legislative Assembly premises to highlight the law and order issues facing Puducherry.

He and his supporters sat on the portico of the Assembly and raised slogans demanding accountability from the NDA government for the recent murders. The legislator demanded adequate compensation for the family of the seven-year-old boy killed after an electric pole collapsed on him a few days ago on the Beach Promenade area.

The legislator said the death of the child was the result of negligence shown by the officials. The MLA was also engaged in a brief argument with Pro-tem Speaker A. Anbalagan and Minister for Public Works Malladi Krishna Rao during the protest at the Assembly.
