VIZIANAGARAM:
Jana Chaitanya Vedika State president Bankuru Jogi Naidu on Friday (October 2, 2026) alleged that the names of genuine voters had been deleted on a large scale in Vizianagaram district under the guise of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), which was not given wide publicity in rural and semi-urban areas.
Speaking to the media here, he alleged that the Election Commission of India had introduced the SIR without anybody’s request or demand in the country, and that the exercise was taken up to benefit the NDA parties. He asked the government to hold local body elections only after a genuine revision of the voters’ list, and expressed concern over the deletion of nearly 10 lakh genuine voters’ names from the lists.
Mr. Jogi Naidu asked the officials to ensure the right to vote for every eligible person, since universal franchise was part of Indian freedom. He charged that the YSRCP had also extended its support to the Union government on key issues and maintained silence over the SIR and other “undemocratic” laws and decisions of the government.
The association’s State General Secretary, Gedela Chandru Naidu, said the association had been working on people’s rights in all mandals of the district.
