The Bharathiar University Teachers’ Association has questioned the failure of the Registrar R. Rajavel to designate a senior faculty member as In-Charge Registrar in his absence.
Demanding time-bound, transparent, and rule-based action on all pending issues, the Association, in its general body meeting, called upon the Registrar to strictly adhere to the service rules and regulations of the State government.
It also expressed dismay over the delay in conduct of CAS (Career Advancement Scheme) interviews for all eligible faculty members for promotion to all stages. Timely CAS interview has been specified in the UGC framework, the Association president K. Vasanth said.
The other demands included immediate implementation of e-filing and file-tracking system for administrative transparency and timely disposal of official files; appointment of In-Charge faculty in key administrative sections, including Establishment, Finance and C-Section, in view of severe shortage of non-teaching staff; transfer/rotation of permanent non-teaching staff who have been continuously serving in Finance and other sections for more than 10 to 20 years; immediate completion of Service Register entries and corresponding salary fixation for eligible faculty members; and equipping the new Botany Department that was inaugurated two years ago with laboratory equipment and working tables, and adequate Internet connectivity.
