Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) Andhra Pradesh general secretary A.V. Nageswara Rao called upon workers to intensify their struggles to protect labour rights and oppose policies that adversely affect them. Speaking at a meeting in Visakhapatnam to mark the 81st anniversary of the World Federation of Trade Unions, Mr. Rao said workers’ struggles were expanding worldwide.

CITU Visakhapatnam district general secretary R.K.S.V. Kumar alleged that the Centre had introduced four labour codes favouring corporates and said they could affect job security and working conditions. He also alleged that the State government was pursuing privatisation policies.

CITU called for workers to participate in its ‘Chalo Parliament’ programme in Delhi from December 1-3, seeking higher wages, job security and an end to privatisation.
