Two days after the wilful attempt was made for mass deletion of existing voters in Musheerabad constituency, the election authorities of Hyderabad are yet to take any action against the person who attempted it.

No criminal cases were filed under the Representation of the People Act, 1955, against the Booth Level Agent who reportedly submitted over 30 numbers of Form 7 claims seeking deletion of a Congress party worker and his family members, under false declaration.

Even as fresh instances of pre-printed Form 7s emerged from Bahadurpura, and later from Goshamahal constituencies, District Election Officer R.V. Karnan said a decision will be taken after going through the report submitted by the Electoral Registration Officer concerned. He said each BLA can file a total 30 claims for deletion, and in each instance, he cannot file more than 10.

However, providing false information that the said voters were not residing at the address invites penal action, and a declaration to this effect was signed by the applicant.

In the latest instance reported by the Election Cell of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee on Saturday, a pile of Form 7s were reportedly brought for submission by a BLA from Bharatiya Janata Party, but the BLO of the polling station concerned informed him that there were strict instructions not to accept Form 7s in bulk.

Video clips of 15 such forms, with printed names and addresses of the voters, but no name of the applicant, went viral on social media. The BLO, when approached by The Hindu, confirmed that the forms were brought to him, but he refused to accept away.
