Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday (October 4, 2026) laid the foundation for the construction of three lakh houses across the state under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) 2.0 at Burripalem in Tenali constituency. Mr. Chouhan said the Union government would sanction another six lakh houses for the State, in addition to the three lakh houses being taken up.

Addressing a public meeting later, Mr. Chouhan said another three lakh houses would be sanctioned by the time the ongoing construction was completed, and an additional three lakh houses would also be allocated to Andhra Pradesh. Mr. Naidu said the additional three lakh houses would come next year, taking the total allocation to nine lakh houses. The Union government would extend full support to the development of Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Chouhan said.

Mr. Naidu said the State government aimed to achieve 100% coverage under the housing programme by 2029. He said the Centre had initially sanctioned 75,000 houses to Andhra Pradesh under the regular quota, but three lakh houses were sanctioned following a special request made by the State government.

3D-printed houses

The two leaders also launched a pilot project for government-led 3D concrete-printed houses, described as the first such initiative in the country. A total of 177 houses using 3D concrete printing technology will be constructed at Burripalem and Obulanayudupalem under the pilot project.

Mr. Naidu said the present government had renewed its focus on providing quality houses to the poor. He said houses constructed using the technology were expected to maintain indoor temperatures around eight degrees Celsius lower than the outside temperature. If the pilot project proved successful, the government would take up the construction of 5,000 houses using the technology and seek to make Andhra Pradesh a model for 3D-technology-based housing, he added.

YSRCP cancelled six lakh houses: Naidu

Mr. Naidu alleged that the housing programme had suffered during the previous government between 2019 and 2024, claiming that six lakh houses meant for the poor had been cancelled and that irregularities had affected its implementation. He also alleged that house sites had been allotted at unsuitable locations, including tanks and hillocks, forcing nearly four lakh beneficiaries to return their sites.

The coalition government was committed to ensuring that welfare and development reached all sections of society, he said. Under the Pattabhishekam initiative, long-pending land issues had been resolved and house sites distributed to eligible poor families. House sites valued at ₹52,000 crore had been provided in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Mangalagiri and other parts of the State, he said.

Referring to Burripalem, Mr. Naidu said the village was associated with the late actor Krishna, and noted that Union Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development Pemmasani Chandrasekhar was also from the region.

Centre’s support

Praising Mr. Naidu, Mr. Chouhan said the State was emerging as a leading State in the country under his leadership and described him as a visionary and dynamic leader. “Under Mr. Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership, Andhra Pradesh has become a shining, advanced and achieving State,” he said.

Mr. Chouhan said the Centre was providing ₹6,000 a year to farmers and the State government was adding another ₹14,000 under the Annadata Sukhibhava scheme, taking the total annual assistance to ₹20,000. He said the State government was working with the objective of making the benefits of welfare schemes reach every section of society.

Referring to rural infrastructure, he said villages could utilise the Viksit Bharat-Gramin Yojana (VBG-Ramji Yojana) for developing basic infrastructure such as drains, roads and drinking water facilities. He assured that the Centre would extend full cooperation to Andhra Pradesh in this regard.

Mr. Chouhan said the Modi and Chandrababu governments were working towards the comprehensive, 360-degree development of Andhra Pradesh. He criticised the Congress for bifurcating Andhra Pradesh without ensuring a capital and alleged that the State had subsequently been left without adequate support. The NDA governments at the Centre and in the State were now taking Andhra Pradesh forward on the path of development, he said.

He said he had visited Amaravati and was impressed by its development plans. Amaravati, he said, had the potential to emerge as a major centre for advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, data centres and quantum computing. Stating that he was impressed by the scale of development planned for Amaravati and by Mr. Naidu’s interaction with people, he expressed confidence that Andhra Pradesh would emerge as the number one State in the country under Mr. Naidu’s leadership.
