Suttur Mutt seer Shivaratri Deshikendra Swami said that singing bhajans was the simplest way to receive the grace of God and through bhajans, one can inculcate morals and values.
He was speaking at the valedictory function of the 28th annual Bhajana Kammata (workshop) at the Sri Kshetra in Dharmasthala on October 4. “Although there are many paths to God’s realisation, if one sings bhajans with devotion, in tune, rhythm and discipline, one can easily attain the grace of God. Many saints and ascetics of the country, like Mirabai, have dedicated themselves with devotion and attained the grace of God,” the Swami said.
Stating that the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) members have also spread awareness abroad about the power of receiving God’s grace through bhajans, he said that through bhajans, the Sattvic energy within one is awakened and a healthy society with morality is created. The seer added that if there is prayer, chanting, penance and meditation, an inseparable bond is formed between the devotees and the Lord.
