Ranga Reddy District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) was caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday while accepting a bribe of ₹1 lakh.

According to preliminary information, DMHO Swarna Kumari demanded the bribe for processing permissions required for opening a new hospital in the district. The complainant subsequently approached the ACB, following which officials laid a trap and caught her while accepting the amount. ACB teams also carried out searches at the District Medical and Health Office in Shivarampally following the trap.

A Health Inspector identified as Srinivas was also taken into custody over his suspected role in the alleged bribe transaction. The agency is also examining whether similar irregularities had taken place earlier in connection with permissions issued to hospitals.
