Councillors of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday held a protest march to the office of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] councillor Ajin S., representing the Thrikannapuram ward of the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, who has been facing allegations of demanding bribes from a landowner.
Inaugurating the protest, BJP district president Karamana Jayan said that the councillor’s antics are part of the CPI(M)’s tactics of forcing entrepreneurs, business persons and common people to pay them. A purported video of Mr.Ajin demanding ₹10 lakh from Sanju, a native of Thirumala, to resolve issues concerning a plot he purchased in the ward, had begun circulating two days ago. However, Mr. Ajin denied the allegations and said the footage being circulated was fabricated and edited.
