Women expressed their gratitude by presenting gifts (‘seervarisai’) to the Ramanathapuram District Collector for taking action on residential lands in Kilakarai that had not been issued land pattas for many years.

In the Kanjanamkudi area of Kilakarai town in Ramanathapuram district, more than 150 people had not been issued land pattas for the houses they lived in and the lands they had been using for many years.

Consequently, the residents submitted a petition to District Collector M. Sivaguru Prabhakaran a month ago during the Public Grievance Redress Day meeting, requesting pattas.

Following the Collector’s orders, all the lands were surveyed and steps were taken to issue pattas.

To express their gratitude to the Collector for resolving this long-standing issue, more than 50 women from the area presented vegetables and fruits as gifts to the Collector during the Public Grievance Redress Day meeting.

Later, they requested the Collector to donate the vegetables and fruits they had brought to an old-age home.

A resident, Abubakar Siddique, said, “The people of Kanjanamkudi had not obtained pattas for their residential lands for 40 years. As soon as we submitted a petition to the Collector, within 30 days, under the leadership of the Kilakarai Tahsildar, surveyors measured the land and took steps to resolve the multi-year issue.”

“The Collector accepted it and advised us to donate it to an old-age home. The Tamil Nadu Government is functioning excellently. Everyone should extend their cooperation to this government,” he noted.
