Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday launched a cashless medical facility for over 50,000 Delhi Jal Board (DJB) pensioners and their family members.

Under the new system, beneficiaries can avail themselves of cashless emergency, planned and non-emergency treatment, as well as medical tests, at empanelled hospitals, the Chief Minister’s Office stated in a post on X.

Earlier, pensioners seeking treatment had to pay medical expenses upfront and subsequently apply for reimbursement, a process that Ms. Gupta said was particularly cumbersome for elderly beneficiaries.

Ms. Gupta said the facility would ease the financial and procedural difficulties faced by retired employees and their families while seeking medical treatment. “It was the government’s responsibility to ensure that, at this stage of their lives, they receive better healthcare facilities in an easy and dignified manner,” she said.
