Andhra Pradesh Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president and Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao inaugurated ‘Trupti Canteen’ at Aganampudi Government Hospital in Ward No. 85, on Monday. Additional Commissioner PM Satyaveni was present.

Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said that the State government, under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, is giving special priority to the economic empowerment of women by implementing various welfare and employment-oriented programmes.

He said that the ‘Trupti Canteen’ established with the support of the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) and Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA) and is being managed by members of women Self-Help Groups. He stated that this is the second ‘Trupti Canteen’ to be opened within the GVMC limits, while another ‘Trupti Canteen’ is already being operated by women at RK Beach.

He said that such canteens provide sustainable employment and income opportunities to women, and ensure quality and tasty food available to the common people at affordable prices.

The MLA said that setting up such canteens near government hospitals, government offices and other high-footfall areas would particularly benefit poor and middle-class people. He advised the women SHG members to give utmost priority to hygiene, food quality and punctuality in the management of the canteen.
