The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (Jipmer) has opened an advanced Cryoanalgesia unit at the institute.
The institute in a release said Cryoanalgesia is an advanced interventional pain management technique that uses controlled application of cold temperature on targeted nerves to reduce transmission of pain signals.
By producing a temporary and controlled interruption of nerve function, the procedure could provide sustained pain relief in selected patients while supporting improved functional outcomes.
The newly established unit will cater to patients having chronic, persistent, and complex pain conditions, particularly those who might benefit from targeted interventional pain management. The facility was inaugurated by medical superintendent, Jipmer, Saka Vinod Kumar.
