Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta, on Wednesday (October 7, 2026), asked police officials to keep watch on villages and improve the intelligence network on the ground ahead of the local body elections in the Godavari region.

The meeting was attended by Eluru Range Inspector General G.V.G. Ashok Kumar, Superintendents of Police of East Godavari, Kakinada, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema and Eluru districts and DSPs of the region.

Addressing the officials here on preparedness for the elections, Mr. Gupta said: “The sensitive villages should be brought under the surveillance of the drones and vigilance to prevent any untoward incidents and prepare an action plan for a robust security for the elections.”

The officials were told to visit the villages and gather more information and inputs to tackle any situation.

Mr. Gupta asked them to strengthen their sources in the villages and gather details of the key issues in each village. He also asked the SPs to rope in volunteers of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and the National Service Scheme (NSS) for the elections.
