Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan, former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and Tourism and Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh expressed grief over the death of veteran actor Nana Patekar at his home in Goa in the early hours of Thursday (October 8, 2026). The 75-year-old actor had suffered a cardiac arrest.

“I am saddened to hear the news of the sudden demise of the renowned actor Nana Patekar. I pray to the Almighty for his soul to rest in peace,” Mr. Pawan Kalyan said in a release.

Mr. Patekar was an actor who could effortlessly immerse himself in any role, he said. “His performance in the film Krantiveer was unforgettable. Films such as Parinda, Khamoshi, Tirangaa, Agni Sakshi, Natsamrat, Ab Tak Chhappan, and Apaharan stand as shining examples of his acting career. He also rendered honorable service to the Indian Army. I extend my deepest condolences to Nana Patekar’s family,” he added.

“His remarkable contribution to Indian cinema and his versatile performances will always be remembered,” Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said in a post on X.

Mr. Durgesh said the death of Mr. Patekar was an irreparable loss to Indian cinema. He described the Padma Shri recipient as an outstanding actor who had rendered immense service to the film industry.
