BIS holds capacity building programme for WRD engineers

Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Chennai, organised a two-day capacity building programme for officials of Tamil Nadu Water Resources and Minor Irrigation Departments at BIS office, Taramani on October 7 and 8.

A press release said about 50 officials from various WRD offices and divisions associated with water resources, irrigation, groundwater, quality control, design and research participated. The programme was organised as part of the series of awareness and stakeholder outreach programmes being undertaken by BIS in connection with celebrating World Standards Day 2026.

S. D. Dayanand, Head, BIS Chennai, highlighted the use of appropriate standards, technical practices and quality requirements for ensuring the safety and sustainability of water resources and related infrastructure. P. Sundararajan, Chief Engineer, Design Research and Construction Support, WRD also spoke.
