Andhra Pradesh to adopt technology to promote tourist destinations, improve visitor experience

Andhra Pradesh is seeking to leverage emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Technology, to give a new dimension to its tourism sector, Minister for Tourism and Cinematography Kandula Durgesh has said.

Speaking at the Spain Tourism Innovation Summit–2026 on Thursday, he highlighted the State’s tourism potential and its plans to adopt technology-driven solutions to promote destinations and improve the visitor experience. Later, he said that AP Tourism received appreciation at the global event for the manner in which the State’s tourism potential was presented.

On the third day of his visit, Mr. Durgesh participated in a series of programmes, including the Touristech Startup Fest, Tourism Startup Atlas, Technological Tours, Travel Agencies Summit, Argentina Destination Partner 2026, Tourism 4 Nature Awards, and the welcome party. He also took part in the Discover Seville with City Sightseeing programme.

The Minister held one-on-one discussions with international investors and leading players in the tourism industry and explained to them the distinctive features and potential of various tourist destinations in Andhra Pradesh. He also presented special souvenir books showcasing the State’s tourism heritage and attractions to investors and tourism industry representatives.

Mr. Durgesh also spoke about the development of smart destinations and digital guide systems, and said efforts would be made to introduce the latest technological innovations across the tourism sector in the State. The Minister also presented Tourism Innovation Awards to leading personalities from the global tourism industry during the summit.

Mr. Durgesh said Andhra Pradesh was taking forward its tourism development agenda by making innovation and technology key drivers, and that the State government was committed to using new technologies to strengthen tourism infrastructure, enhance visitor experiences and give Andhra Pradesh greater visibility on the global tourism map.
