Nellore Railway Sub-Division police have recovered 50 mobile phones worth ₹10 lakh in a special drive. Of these, 10 were recovered by the Nellore Government Railway Police Station (GRPS), six by Gudur GRPS, nine by Kavali GRPS, 15 by Ongole GRPS and 10 by Chirala GRPS.

In a statement released here on Thursday (October 8, 2026), Nellore Railway DSP G. Muralidhar said, “With the objective of ensuring railway security and the safety of passengers, and as per the directions of Railway I.G. Rajakumari, two special teams were constituted in the sub-division to trace and recover lost/stolen mobile phones belonging to railway passengers.”

The special teams, led by Nellore Railway Circle Inspector A. Sudhakar and Ongole Railway Circle Inspector Sk. Moula Shariff, recovered the phones using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, IMEI number tracking and other investigation techniques, he said.

The recovered phones were handed over to their owners at a programme. Mr. Muralidhar said the police were giving high priority to the safety and security of passengers and their belongings. He advised passengers who lost their mobile phones to immediately lodge a complaint at the nearest railway police station.

He also advised passengers to remain vigilant about their mobile phones, cash and other valuable belongings while travelling by train, and requested them to immediately inform the Railway Police if they noticed any suspicious persons or incidents during their journey. He praised the teams for tracing and recovering the mobile phones.
