South Western Railway (SWR) General Manager P. Ananth conducted a detailed inspection of railway stations, sidings and other important railway facilities in the Mangaluru Railway Region to review operational arrangements and preparedness following the inclusion of the area under SWR, Mysuru Division with effect from October 1.

During the inspection, Mr. Ananth was accompanied by Mysuru Divisional Railway Manager Mudit Mittal and other senior officers. The team visited key railway locations, including Mangaluru Central, Mangaluru Junction, Panambur and Jokatte. The functioning of various railway facilities was reviewed, and discussions were held with officers and staff to understand operational requirements and issues requiring attention.

The inspection covered various aspects, including train operations, safety arrangements, maintenance activities, availability of manpower and essential resources, passenger amenities, and coordination among different departments. During interactions with railway staff, requirements relating to manpower, infrastructure and other essential facilities were discussed.

The GM and the DRM also met Dakshina Kannada Member of Parliament Capt. Brijesh Chowta. They discussed key railway infrastructure and connectivity-related issues in the region, including level crossings between Padil and Subrahmanya Road, the proposed new railway station at Farangipet, expediting platform works at Puttur, the Pandeshwar railway crossing, and the possibility of establishing a railway station near Mangaluru Airport.
