A sewage pipeline burst at Muthunagar in Ward 100 along Pollachi Road in Coimbatore on Friday (October 9), sending sewage gushing several feet into the air and flowing through the locality, causing a foul smell and sanitary concerns.

Residents said the pipeline burst around 11 a.m., damaging a building under construction in the vicinity. Sewage also entered two houses, causing considerable inconvenience to the occupants.

The residents alerted the ward councillor following the incident. Corporation officials subsequently began repair work at the site.
