A mega job fair was jointly organised by Thalaimurai Peravai, a local non-profit organisation, and Equitas, in Vellore town.
According to a press release, the job fair attracted more than 2,000 participants and over 100 companies from diverse fields. The fair was inaugurated by M. Ravi, former Director General of Police of Tamil Nadu’Ups in the presence of G.V. Selvam, vice-president, Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT).
The job fair, which was organised to mark the birthday of G.V. Selvam, provided an opportunity for candidates to explore career prospects, interact with recruiters, and connect with potential employers across various sectors.
In his presidential address, Mr. Selvam highlighted the mismatch between the demand for skilled labour and the availability of suitable employment opportunities in certain sectors. He stressed that youngsters must continuously upgrade their skills to improve their career prospects and equip themselves to meet the challenges of everyday life, the release said.
