The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has released a short-duration yellow alert about light rain or light thunderstorms for Hyderabad and its surrounding areas till 1 p.m. on Thursday (September 25, 20205).
The department has forecast maximum surface wind speed less than 40 kmph (in gusts) as very likely in Hyderabad, Adilabad, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Jagtial, Jangaon, Kamareddy, Karimnagar, Kumaram Bheem, Mahabubabad, Mancherial, Medak, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Mulugu, Nirmal, Nizambad, Peddapalle, Raianna Sircilla, Rangareddy, Sangareddy, Siddipet, Warangal, Hanamkonda districts.
Upper air cyclonic circulation over Bay of Bengal
The IMD is tracking an upper air cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal that it predicts will move westwards gradually from September 25. “Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over north and adjoining central Bay of Bengal on September 25. Moving nearly westwards, it is very likely to concentrate into a depression over northwest and adjoining west central Bay of Bengal off South Odisha- North Andhra Pradesh coasts on September 26. It is very likely to cross South Odisha-North Andhra Pradesh coasts around September 27,” as per Regional Specialized Meteorological Centre, New Delhi in its weather outlook.
