The Southwest monsoon is expected to withdraw from Telangana around its normal date of October 15, according to A. Dharma Raju, Scientist at the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Centre, Hyderabad.

Speaking to The Hindu, he said that most northern parts of the State are already experiencing the retreat of monsoon rains, with the withdrawal process likely to be completed in the coming days.

The scientist said that while the skies may remain partly cloudy in some areas, temperatures across Telangana are showing a gradual rise. “As of now, the highest temperature recorded in October is around 33°C, while the minimum hovers around 32°C,” he said.

Cities like Hyderabad are expected to record maximum temperatures of about 32°C, while districts such as Nalgonda and Suryapet may experience temperatures nearing 33°C.

Regarding the onset of cooler weather, Mr. Raju indicated that residents can expect temperatures to start dropping mostly in the last week of October, signalling the gradual arrival of winter conditions. He added that this pattern is typical for the month, and the current warmth is consistent with seasonal expectations.
