The Visakhapatnam Tourism Division, comprising six districts in north coastal Andhra Pradesh, will soon see a boost in tourism infrastructure, ensuring a growth of tourist footall.
The government intends to tap the tourism potential of the region by inviting private players to set up hotels, resorts, tourism projects in PPP mode.
A total of 393.39 acres of land in 36 locations in the Visakhapatnam Tourism Division, comprising six districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram-Manyam, Alluri Sitharama Raju, Visakhapatnam and Anakapalli, will be allotted for the development of tourism infrastructure .
The lands will be allotted for mega and ultra mega tourism projects on long-term lease basis under per the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Land Allotment Policy 2024-29.
Most of the land (291.94 acres) of the total parcel belongs to Tourism Department, while Andhra Pradesh Forest Development Corporation Limited has 37.45 acres in ASR district, and Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) has 10 acres at Rushikonda.
Some locations and land parcels include ASR districtâs 43.1 acres in Nandakota village of Anantagiri mandal, which is near to Araku Valley and Borra Caves. Kapuluppada (Vizag) with 57.42 acres at two different locations, Annavaram (Vizag) with 17.25 acres, Gara in Srikakulam district (17 acres), Madhurawada (Vizag) with 10 acres, and Thatipudi in Vizianagaram district with 10.6 acres.
The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Authority (APTA) has invited applicants to take up the land parcels in whole or in parts.
Investors are advised to ensure that they are independent and comply with applicable regulatory requirements, including clearances from Coastal Regulator Zone Authorities, municipal corporations, urban development authorities and other relevant government agencies like forests.
âThe department has invited interested players with a strong commitment to develop tourism projects that generate maximum employment. Applicants should have a strong professional background, brand image, accountability, responsibility and sustainability. The department is working on these projects ahead of a showcase at the partnership summit to be held in Visakhapatnam in November 2025,â Tourism Visakhapatnam Divisional Manager G. Jagadeesh said.
