
Eminent Yakshagana Bhagavata Dinesh Ammannaya

Dinesh Ammannaya, eminent Yakshagana Bhagavata (narrator) of Thenkutittu style, passed away at Kanyadi in Belthangady taluk of Dakshina Kannada district in Karnataka, on October 16. He was 68.
Ammannaya had been the Bhagavata with Karnataka Mela, Yedaneer Mela and other Thenkuthittu Melas. Known for his unparalleled voice, Ammannaya was called ‘Gaana Kogile’ and ‘Rasa Raga Chakravarthi’.
A resident of Hosthota Palya in Hathyadka village of Belthangadi taluk, Ammannaya leaves behind his wife and two daughters. Ailing for some time, he passed away in the house of one of his daughters at Kanyadi.
