Appointment of V.A. Arun Kumar as Director in-charge of IHRD challenged in Kerala HC

The Dean of APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (KTU) has submitted before the Kerala High Court that V.A. Arun Kumar, son of the former Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan, is not qualified to be appointed as Director in-charge of the Institute of Human Resource Development (IHRD).

KTU Dean Vinu Thomas submitted the affidavit in an appeal filed by Mr. Arun Kumar that challenged a Single Judge’s direction to the High Court Registry to register a suo motu case and to probe Mr. Arun Kumar’s qualifications.

The Dean submitted that Mr. Arun Kumar had been appointed Assistant Director of the IHRD due to political clout and that he did not have the requisite work experience of two years as a software consultant. He further submitted that Mr. Arun Kumar did not have teaching experience and that the requisite qualifications for the post were amended to exclude teaching experience.

The matter has been posted for hearing on December 5.
