Collector R. Alagumeena on Sunday inspected the training on special intensive revision of the electoral roll being provided to polling agents of recognised political parties.
Speaking at the meeting, she said the electoral roll was revised before every election or whenever necessary. A total of eight special revisions had been conducted from 1951 to 2004. Following this, the Election Commission had now instructed the State to conduct special intensive voter revision ahead of the 2026 Assembly election. The primary reason for revising the voter list was to check if the same voter was registered in multiple locations. To address the issue, application forms would be distributed to every household by polling station-level officers from November 4 to December 4.
The Collector also highlighted the procedures involved in the special intensive revision and the important role of the polling agents during the revision process.
At the meeting, voters registration officer, polling station officers and other officials were present.
