Hubballi-Dharwad Central MLA Mahesh Tenginakai has alleged that the State government had not released the salary grants to the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation for the last six months.
Addressing presspersons in Hubballi on Tuesday, Mr. Tenginakai said that while the salary grants had to be paid by the State government, it was not happening. Consequently, the HDMC was paying the salaries of the employees by mobilising ₹7 crore from its internal resources, he alleged.
Mr. Tenginakai also alleged that the release of ₹300 crore in salary grants was pending and despite repeated memoranda, the State government had been apathetic towards the issue.
He also alleged that the government was also partisan in the release of development grants to legislators. While ₹50 crore grant had been allocated to legislators of the ruling party, only ₹25 crore had been allocated to those of the Opposition.
