The graduation day ceremony of JSS Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital in the city was held on Thursday and in which 98 candidates completed their undergraduate degree, and 43 candidates completed their postgraduate degree and received their respective degree certificates.

Dr. B.C. Bhagavan, Vice-Chancellor, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bengaluru, was the chief guest and said that Ayurveda was the future for the coming generations.

He underlined the urgency of exploring ancient wisdom and system of medicine through systematic research so as to benefit the society.

Dr. Bhagavan said many ancient Ayurvedic manuscripts from the Vedic period were destroyed and have been lost to posterity, and hence it was imperative to preserve them through digitization. ‘’In this direction, RGUHS has taken a significant initiative to archive and safeguard traditional data for future exploration’’, he added.

Dr. Bhagavan said only a few standardised Ayurvedic educational institutions in India have successfully translated classical concepts into practical realities that benefit patients, and mentioned JSS Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, as one of them.

Calling for integrating Ayurveda and Yoga with allopathy, Dr.Bhagawan said this will effectively address major contemporary challenges such as drug addiction, depression, and other growing health concerns among today’s youth.

Dr. Shivaprasad Huded, Vice Principal, administered the oath to the outgoing candidates. Among the toppers, Dr.Amaresh and Dr. Samhitha Hegde bagged cash prizes while certificates and appreciation letters were distributed to 55 rank holders

 Dr. Mokshitha G. Prakash, Dr. Ashmitha U., Dr. Shruthi T.P., and Dr. Sumedha Bhat were awarded with RGUHS University Topper awards. The best outgoing graduate 2025 and the best outgoing intern 2025 were awarded to Dr. Meghana Chandrashekhar and Dr. Tushar S.R. respectively.

The Post Graduate University Topper awards were awarded to Dr. Shashikala V., Dr. Namratha M., Dept of Kayachikitsa, and Dr. Pallavi S.L., Department of SwasthaVritta, respectively. Jeevaka Awards were awarded to Dr. Shruthi T.P. and Dr. Sumedha Bhat with Cash prizes. Ayurvisharada awards to Dr. Bhoomika N.G. Outgoing doctors shared their experience of Medical Education at JSS.

Sri Shivaratri Deshikendra Swamiji of Suttur Mutt, Dr. C.G. Betsurmath, executive secretary, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Mysuru, presided, R. Mahesh, director, Medical Education Division, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Mysuru, students and staff were present.
