Minister of Higher Education Govi. Chezhiaan on Saturday said that no other State in India has been implementing educational schemes like Tamil Nadu, while presenting certificates to the winners of INSPIRE-MANAK competition for the academic years 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 held at National Engineering College in Kovilpatti.
The State-level competition commenced on Friday (November 28), organised by Department of Science and Technology, National Innovation Foundation, Ahmedabad, Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Centre and National Engineering College. It witnessed the participation of students from across the State.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Chezhiaan said, “Tamil Nadu is excelling in science. Chief Minister M. K. Stalin has been implementing several schemes to ensure scientific, rational, caste and religion free, socially just education for all students.”
Mentioning the event as not just a State-level science exhibition, he noted that the event serves as a significant platform to bring out the scientific abilities of students. “The goal of this innovation based science research programme is to promote questioning and exploration beyond superstitions , asking what, when and how,” Mr. Chezhiaan added.
He observed that true education must include innovation, research and social progress, stating that every individual carries a seed of potential that must be identified and nurtured.
“Chief Minister Stalin dreams of providing equal opportunities for all. That is why he supports economically marginalised students in many ways. No other State has educational schemes like those available in Tamil Nadu and as a result Tamil Nadu remains in the first position in higher education in India,” the Minister noted.
He urged the students to develop skills to compete globally with students from other countries.
K. Shanmuga Sundaram, executive director, Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Centre, K. R. Arunacahalam, correspondent, National Engineering College were among those who were present.
