The government is considering conducting the Kerala State School Arts Festival and the Special School Arts Festival together in the coming years, Minister for General Education V. Sivankutty has said.
Addressing mediapersons in Tirur on Saturday, the Minister said the move was part of efforts to ensure equal opportunities to children with special needs.
Nearly 3,100 students were taking part in 106 events in the Special School Arts Festival.
Students who secured the A grade were being given ₹1,000. Besides this, the government was also giving a participation allowance of ₹1,500 to special schools taking part in the festival.
The Minister said an amount of Rs.35 lakh had been set aside from the Plan fund for the conduct of the special school fete.
