Taking note of a complaint raised by the Thiruvalla legislator Mathew T. Thomas that his name was missing from the voter list currently being used for the SIR verification process, the district administration has clarified that the MLA can have his name added to the rolls.
In a statement, Pathanamthitta District Collector S. Prem Krishnan said the intensive revision of the voter list had been conducted in March 2002. Mr. Thomas, however, obtained his election identity card only later, in October 2002. When the Special Summary Revision was published that year, his name did not appear on the voter list. It remains unclear whether this omission occurred because he did not submit the enumeration form or because he was not present during the process.
However, the Collector has confirmed that the name of Mr. Thomas’s father was on the original register. Since his father’s name is present, there will be no difficulties in including the legislator’s name in the ongoing intensive voter list revision, he added.
