Former Minister and BJP leader Pramod Madhwaraj said on Monday that he is in the dark about who blocked him from participating with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Laksha Kantha Gita Parayana programme in Udupi on November 28.
Addressing a joint press meet with Udupi district BJP president Kutyar Naveen Shetty in Udupi, Mr. Madhwaraj, who had presented the ‘Kanaka Kavacha’ (golden cover) to the ‘Kanakana Kindi’ at Udupi Sri Krishna Mutt, said: “I dedicated a golden shield to the Kanaka Kindi as a form of service. I am very happy that Mr. Modi inaugurated it. I was hoping that I would also get a chance to participate in the function. For some reason, I missed the opportunity. I do not know who prevented me from attending.”
Mr. Madhwaraj said that his Aadhaar card copy and photos were obtained four times in connection with participating in Mr. Modi’s programme. “But the fact that my name was not in the list sent from the PM’s Office was intimated to me through the Superintendent of Police on the night of November 27.”
“I am not sad or upset about it,” Mr. Madhwaraj said.
The former Minister said that he does not want to assume that such and such a person is responsible for ensuring that he did not get a chance to participate in the function with the Prime Minister. “So I will not make a vain attempt to blame anyone. If anyone prevented me, I think it is their wrong political move,” Mr. Madhwaraj said.
