A samapandhi (communal eating), signature campaign and pledge made up the World AIDS Day awareness programmes organised by the district administration at the Krishnagiri Collectorate on Monday.
The World AIDS Day, 2025 themed “Overcoming disruption, transforming the AIDS response” was marked by the district administration led by Collector C. Dinesh Kumar. The day witnessed awareness rally, a signature campaign, and pledge to end discrimination.
Orders for financial assistance of ₹1,000 per month were issued to 18 beneficiaries. Speaking on the occasion and administering the pledge, the Collector said, the district was at the forefront of the fight against AIDS. Krishnagiri has 18 Hope Centres for people living with HIV AIDS, three Comfort centres; two ART centres; three Combined Anti-Retroviral Therapy centers; two blood banks; orphanage for children; three targeted people’s schemes, among a gamut of support infrastructure for the HIV-affected.
In addition, various schemes including free bus pass, farmers’ protection scheme; Chief Minister’s health insurance scheme are also extended to persons living with HIV- AIDS targeting their coverage, according to the Collector.
DHARMAPURI
The World AIDS day was marked here by the district administration under the aegis of Dharmapuri Collector R. Sadheesh at the Collectorate. As part of the awareness campaign, the administration urged the persons with tuberculosis to get tested for AIDs as the former were vulnerable to infection.
The day witnessed Collector administering pledge, and launching signature campaign to end discrimination.
