ADMK North District Treasurer VC Ramaiya, 70, died in a road accident near Poovarasakudi in Pudukkottai on Monday.
According to police sources, the deceased was travelling from Vandakkottai towards Thiruvarangulam on his two-wheeler. While taking a right turn, he was hit from behind by a car driven by K. Adharsh, 23, of Vallathirakottai.
He sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to a private hospital in Pudukkottai, where he was declared dead. His body has been shifted to Pudukkottai Government Medical College Hospital for post-mortem.
The Vallathirakottai Police have registered a case and are investigating.
