Member of Parliament, Vijayawada, Kesineni Sivanath, has asked Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu to operate more flights from Vijayawada to Goa, Surat, Ahmedabad, Pune, Varanasi and Kerala.

Mr. Sivanath also urged the Civil Aviation minister to run Vijayawada-Dubai direct flight, as many people from Andhra Pradesh are living in Dubai. He asked the minister to operate more flights from Vijayawada to Delhi and Mumbai, to align with the international departures.

In a letter represented to Mr. Rammohan Naidu, on Monday, the MP thanked the minister for his decision to allow ‘Irumudis’ carried by Ayyappa devotees onboard the flights. The decision has enhanced flight bookings from AP to Kerala, especially the Ayyappa devotees, he said.

As many medical assistants, health workers and nurses travel from Vijayawada to Kerala, there is a need to enhance connectivity to Kochi, the MP said.

He also requested the minister for connectivity from Vijayawada to Varanasi, as there was a sharp rise in pilgrim rush to the historic place, Mr. Sivanath said.
