Telangana Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister, Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka), on Monday (December 1, 2025) said the Indian Constitution remains the foundation for ensuring representation of marginalised communities, asserting that leaders like her could enter the legislature only because of the safeguards envisioned by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
Speaking after receiving the Eashwari Bai Memorial Award on the 107th birth anniversary of J. Eashwari Bai at Ravindra Bharathi in Hyderabad, she said the honour had placed more responsibility on her. āBy conferring the Eashwari Bai Award on me, I have been given more responsibility to continue the legacy of Eashwari Baiā she said.
Expressing concern over recent statements on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar by several leaders, the minister said, āA section of leaders are thinking against the spirit of the Constitution,ā she remarked, stating that the true tribute to Eashwari Bai is to protect the Constitution.
Thanking the J. Geeta Reddy and the organisers, she said the life of Eashwari Bai ā who rose from the humiliation of untouchability and dedicated herself to public service ā remained a model for all. Former Minister and chairperson of the Eshwari Bai Memorial Trust, J. Geeta Reddy, said the Trust unanimously chose Ms. Seethakka for the honour, acknowledging her contribution both before and after assuming ministerial office. Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar presented the award to Ms. Seethakka. Labour Minister G. Vivek and others also spoked at the event.
