Two of Hyderabad’s prominent shopping corridors have entered the Asia–Pacific (APAC) rankings of the ‘Main Streets Across the World 2025’ report, reflecting the city’s rising profile in the region’s retail landscape. The latest edition of the survey, published by Cushman and Wakefield, lists Banjara Hills and Himayathnagar among 51 key retail destinations across the APAC region, placing the city in the same bracket as Tokyo, Singapore, Hong Kong and New Delhi.
This report focuses on headline rents in best-in-class urban locations across the world, which, in many cases, are linked to the luxury sector.
₹2,680 per sq. ft. annual rent in Banjara Hills and Himayathnagar
In the APAC list, Banjara Hills and Himayathnagar share the 48th position, with annual rents estimated at USD 30 per square foot (₹2,680 per sq. ft.). Their appearance in the rankings signals the steady strengthening of Hyderabad’s premium retail market, which has drawn a growing mix of national and international brands seeking to establish or expand their presence in southern India.
Khan Market remains India’s most expensive retail location
India features prominently in the report, with several of its retail corridors registering strong year-on-year rental growth and securing places across the global tables. Among the top 50 shopping destinations worldwide, Khan Market in New Delhi remains India’s most expensive retail location, placed 24th with an annual rent of USD 223 per square foot (₹19,940 per sq ft).
The report notes that rising disposable incomes, shifting lifestyles and growing consumer aspirations have bolstered the performance of India’s metropolitan markets. It identifies premiumisation across fashion, beauty, food and beverage and home segments as a key factor driving rental escalation. It also observes that global brands increasingly view India’s Tier-1 cities as strategic entry points in Asia, particularly at a time when consumption in China shows signs of slowing.
This year marks the 35th edition of the global survey, which tracks 140 major shopping streets around the world. London’s New Bond Street has secured the top position, surpassing Milan’s Via Montenapoleone and New York’s Upper Fifth Avenue.
