
Temple priests on the first day of the annual Brahmotsavams at Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple, at Dokiparru Mahakshetram in Krishna district on Tuesday.

The tenth annual Salakatla Brahmotsavams of Sri Venkateswara Swamy and Goddess Bhoodevi commenced with great spiritual fervour and traditional magnificence at Dokiparru Mahakshetram in Krishna district on Tuesday (December 02, 2025). The celebrations began on the auspicious Margasira Dwadasi of the Vishvavasu Nama Samvatsaram, marking the formal start of the festive rituals.
The first dayâs ceremonies included âSnapan Tirumanjanamâ, âSenadhipati Utsavamâ, âAnkuraropanaâ, âTiruchi Vahana Sevaâ, and âPallaki Sevaâ, drawing huge participation from devotees and residents of Dokiparru.
Chief priest Acharya Sridhar asserted that Brahmotsavams are being conducted with the same devotion and traditional customs followed in Tirumala. Abhishekam was performed to the âUtsava Murthisâ, while in the evening temple representatives visited the Varasiddhi Vinayaka Temple to collect sacred soil for the traditional âAnkuraropanaâ ritual. âNavadhanyasâ were sown in twelve holy pits, praying for agricultural abundance and welfare.
Sri Venkateswara Swamy and Goddess Bhoodevi will be taken out on grand âSuryaprabha Vahana Sevaâ, preceded by the âDwajarohanamâ ceremony on Wednesday (December 03). âShesha Vahanotsavamâ, âHamsa Vahanamâ, âOonjal Sevaâ and âEkanta Sevaâ will also take place later in the day.
The Brahmotsavams were inaugurated under the guidance of founding trustees P.V. Krishna Reddy and Sudha, along with members of the organising committee Komma Reddy Bapireddy, Vijaya Bhaskaramma, P. Nagireddy, Prasanna, P.V. Subba Reddy, and Sumalatha. Vedic scholars performed a special âSnapan Tirumanjanamâ to the âUtsava Murthisâ, explaining the spiritual significance and divine merit associated with the annual festivities.
The celebrations will continue till December 5 and will feature âHomasâ, âUtsavamsâ, âOonjal Sevaâ, and various âVahana Sevasâ each day. Vedic scholars said that according to âVaikhanasaâ and âAgama Shastrasâ, âArchanaâ and âKainkaryaâ performed at this sacred temple bring divine prosperity to the State and community.
