The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Tiruppur, has announced that the National Lok Adalat will be held on December 13 on the premises of courts in Tiruppur, Avinashi, Dharapuram, Kangayam, Madathukulam, Palladam, Udumalpet and Uthukuli.

Compoundable criminal cases, cheque dishonour cases, motor vehicle accident compensation cases, civil disputes, land acquisition cases, matrimonial cases, maintenance cases, tenancy dispute cases, consumer dispute cases and bank loan cases will be taken up for settlement by the DLSA chaired by Principal District Judge, Tiruppur, N. Gunasekaran.

Pre-litigation cases will also be taken up for settlement. The award (decision) made by the Lok Adalat is deemed to be a decree of a civil court and is final and binding on all parties. There can be no appeal against such an award, V.L. Santhosh, secretary, DLSA, Tiruppur, said in a press release.

No court fee is levied for filing cases in a Lok Adalat. If a matter pending in a court of law is referred to the Lok Adalat and is settled subsequently, the fee originally paid in the court for the case is also refunded to the parties, Mr. Santhosh said.
