Acquire land for Ejipura flyover without delay: GBA chief

Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) Chief Commissioner M. Maheshwar Rao pulled up officials over delay in land acquisition for the long delayed Ejipura flyover and directed them to expedite the same.

“Land belonging to St. John’s Institution at two locations, the Kendriya Sadan under the Central government, and the Indian Institute of Astrophysics must be acquired for the project. Officials must coordinate with all the authorities concerned, resolve pending issues immediately, and take possession of the required land,” he said.

Meanwhile, the civic body has to acquire 230 sqm of private land for road widening and construction of a pedestrian pathway near Ejipura junction. Mr. Rao instructed officials to expedite this acquisition as well.

Status of Ejipura project

Raghavendra Prasad, Chief Engineer, GBA, said that of the total 762 segments required to be cast for the 2.38-km flyover, 584 were already cast. Of the 584 segments completed, 454 have been assembled, he said.

“Acquiring the St. John’s property at the earliest will accelerate progress and support timely completion of the project,” he said.

Widening of roads in Mahadevapura

D.S. Ramesh, Commissioner, Bengaluru East City Corporation, visited Hoodi area and directed officials to speed up work on widening of multiple roads in the area, as per Revised Master Plan – 2015. These projects are expected to ease traffic congestion in the area.

He directed officials to develop the road between Hoodi junction to Hope Farm into a model road. The road, 80 feet wide now, is proposed to be widened to 150 feet as per RMP – 2015. He also inspected Hoodi – Kurudu Sonnenahalli Link Road and Hoodi – Sadaramangala roads, which are also up for widening. He directed officials to speed up land acquisition for these projects to ensure civil works begin soon.
