The residents of Mangalamkombu, a village situated on the Kodaikanal hills, staged a demonstration at the Dindigul Collectorate urging the authorities to ensure that basic facilities including proper drinking water was provided to the people.

They said there were about 150 families, a total of around 400 people, living in the area. Most of the people in the area were farm workers. They complained about the lack of proper drinking water facilities in the area.

There was a water tank to meet the water needs of the people. However, it was not maintained properly by the authorities. The people were forced to buy water from outside despite the presence of the water tank, they said.

This was brought to the notice of the authorities, they said. They urged the Dindigul Collector to take necessary steps and ensure that basic facilities including clean drinking water was provided to the people. They submitted a petition to the Dindigul Collector in this regard.
