A CPI Maoist member, Muchaki Nanda, 21, from Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, surrendered before Alluri Sitharama Raju district Superintendent of Police Amit Bardar at Paderu on Tuesday.

Mr. Amit Bardar told reporters that Nanda had joined the dalam in 2023 and was later moved to the 26th Platoon of the Kerlapal Area Committee. He said the surrender was driven by falling cadre morale in West Bastar, where sustained police operations and the establishment of several police camps since 2024 have disrupted Maoist activity. Continuous pressure has led to multiple surrenders, weakened the organisational structure, and halted new recruitment in the region.

The SP said the State’s surrender and rehabilitation policy has encouraged more young cadres to return to the mainstream by offering financial support, skill training, and other welfare measures. He assured that all eligible benefits would be provided to Nanda.

He appealed to Maoists willing to leave the movement to surrender through their relatives or approach the nearest police station or district police officers.
