The Scheduled Castes Internal Reservation Implementation Struggle Committee will take out a march on December 6 in support of their demands for internal reservation to promote social justice.
The march will begin from Siddaramanahundi, native village of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and will coincide with the Parinirvana Day of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. This was stated by the office bearers of the committee, including Basavaraj Koutal and S.Marappa, here on Tuesday.
Addressing reporters, the office bearers said that the government must approve and pass a comprehensive law in the Cabinet meeting to be held on December 4 for the implementation of internal reservation. It should also issue all administrative orders for the implementation of the order during the Belagavi session of the Assembly which will commence this month.
Mr. Koutal said the State government has already approved the implementation of internal reservation in the Cabinet meeting held on August 19, 2025 and what was required was a law in the upcoming Belagavi session of the Assembly, to support the policy.
The committee, which is an umbrella body for various organisations supportive of internal reservation, said that not only should the law be passed but the government must issue a notification for direct recruitment, promotion and filling up of the backlog vacancies in various departments.
The committee also sought internal reservation in the upcoming local body elections. Other demands included reservation of contract based on internal reservation, approval of land and grants for separate institutional bodies for the long-term development opportunities for the communities.
Funds were also sought for the Adijambava Development Corporation, Safai Karmachari Development Corporation, and LIDKAR and the government was urged to accord priority for their development.
Questioning the delay since August, 2025, in enacting a law that supports the internal reservation for SCs, the committee office bearers urged the State government to show its commitment to the Scheduled Caste groups by implementing internal reservation and ensure their comprehensive development.
The committee members warned that further delay or failure to pass a law as per the demand would result in laying siege to the offices and houses of all the Ministers across the State.
