Amid a spate of hoax bomb threats targeting schools across the Capital, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday launched a disaster preparedness campaign aimed at ensuring the safety of students during emergency situations.

Speaking at the launch of the ‘Disaster Ready School Safety Campaign’ at Springdales School on Pusa Road, Ms. Gupta said, “This campaign has only one motive – that every school in Delhi becomes safer. The Delhi government and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) are helping schools improve safety measures.”

Education Minister Ashish Sood said the initiative has already covered 2,082 schools and will soon include all 5,500-plus schools in the Capital. “This initiative will bring structured mock drills, safety training, and disaster management planning into everyday practice,” he said.

Ms. Gupta added that every school will conduct regular mock drills to help children understand immediate steps to take while staying calm during emergency situations.
